Additional issues of SMT, Special Publication and updated membership lists

All four issues of SMT from 1984 have been added to the SMT archive.  These were all greyscale magazines, printed on gloss paper and have been scanned from clean originals donated by the widow of a late member.  I have original, gloss paper copies of issues 15 to 25 and these will be scanned as time permits.  Some unfortunately have punched holes where they were stored in a ring binder.  The scanning process will remove the holes but where they fell in the middle of text or pictures, they may still be visible.

In addition, the 48-page Special Edition of SMT published during the Association’s early years, including an account of the inaugural meeting and many drawings, some on double page spreads, has also been added to the archive of Special Publications.  This is still available in hard copy, priced at £5 including postage to UK addresses.  Postage to addresses overseas varies by country and will be charged at cost.  Please email me at back-issues@16mm.org.uk if you would like a copy.

Finally, membership lists effective 21st December 2021 have been added to the Membership Lists section.  Few changes occurred between the 21st and the end of the year, so these are as accurate for end 2021 purposes as I can get.

I will make a further post to Site News once more copies of SMT have been scanned.

Revised by Country by County Membership List

I announced in my Membership Matters column in the May 2021 issue of Bulletin that the presentation of address and other contact data in the above report was being changed.  This is now complete and the first revised membership list has been loaded to the Members Site.  The principle changes are:

  • The country and county/state segmentation is determined exclusively from the address data held by Warners for each member.
  • Sorting is by country, within a country, by county, and within a county, by postal code.  This makes Australia the first country in the list with the USA the last.
  • If no county/state data has been provided for a member, that member’s address and other contact details will appear in the first block of data for the applicable country.
  • If county/state data bas been provided, addresses for each county or state will be broken out in alphabetical order.  The county/state will be as provided by each member.
  • UK members are listed under the country United Kingdom, in county alphabetic order.  There is no segmentation by UK country.
  • Where members elect not to disclose any contact data, their membership number will be listed, followed by an address of “Data Witheld”.
  • If a member elects to disclose email address and/or phone number, but not postal address, they will appear in the relevant country/county section of the list but their postal address will be blank.

Please remember that the primary purpose of this list is to enable you to understand who else is a member in your locality.  I encourage you to review your entry in the list, to confirm that your county/state data is correct.  If it isn’t, please contact Warners at 16mmNGM@warnersgroup.co.uk or by phone on 01778 392016.  If you have already created an account on Warners subscription renewal system, you can amend your address details online.  This link will take you to the relevant page but you will need to log into your account before you can update address details.  Please don’t contact me as I do not have direct access to the relevant Warners system.

Updates to SMT archive

Issues 51 to 60 have been added to the already extensive archive of back issues of SMT.  Issues 41 to 50 are expected to be added to the archive by the end of this week, i.e. 22nd November.  I will work backwards to issue 1 between now and the end of the year.

Issue 81, which was originally commercially scanned,  has been completely refreshed.  The images are clearer and the text  sharper.  Issue 82 is in preparation as I write and should be loaded this evening.  My aim is to refresh all the commercially scanned issues of SMT , also by the end of the year.

Welcome to the site!

Welcome to the initial release of the 16mm Association Members-only web site.  The site already has a considerable amount of data specifically for current members, but it isn’t complete and some of the existing data will change, so we’ll use this Site News section to provide updates on our progress.

The principal areas of the site at present are:
